As usual, another writer sums up what I've been wanting to say far better than I could.

The argument that "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about" is not only irrelevant, it's dangerous.

Arguing that you don’t care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say.
