As usual a better writer says exactly what I want to say much more eloquently than I can. In this case Marco Arment making the case for not using Google.

Much like Marco I've toned down my anti-Google stance. There's still the creepy factor that drove me away from them to begin with, but now it's rooted more in the fact I don't have to use them. I've always preferred traditional IMAP email with my own domain, iCloud calendars and contacts work just fine and even after it's rough start Apple Maps works as well for what I need as Google Maps ever did.

Regardless of what side of the fence you're on, it's nice there are choices in 2015. No matter which ecosystem you pick there's no right or wrong (unless you pick Microsoft *wink*).
