As I sat in my hotel room in Memphis trying to come up with this week's HMM post it hit me - why not flashback to that oh so brief period when Memphis was going to be the next L.A..
I've done posts on Tora Tora and Lord Tracy before, but need to recognize Every Mother's Nightmare and Roxy Blue, Memphis' other major label metal exports. None of these bands made much of a mark at all, but to a 14 year old metalhead growing up in Memphis it seemed like they were bonafide rockstars.
Nashville may be the "It City" of 2015, but in 1989 it looked like our neighbors to the West would get that title a quarter century earlier.
