Dokken was always one of my favorite bands of the 80's. Although they sold a ton of records, they never quite made it to the next level of arena headliners. They also basically hated one another.
After finally splitting up in 1988 right on the verge of a commercial breakthrough (their last studio album 'Back For The Attack' went double platinum), the band quickly dissolved into 2 camps: lead vocalist Don Dokken's solo career and guitarist George Lynch along with drummer Mick Brown started Lynch Mob.
While neither was as good as Dokken, both sides put out excellent records that were unfortunately ignored by the millions of people who were fans of their previous band.
This week I'm digging up those mostly forgotten side projects and giving them the credit they deserve.
(Note: Dokken reunited in 1994 before imploding again less than 3 years later)
